Cryptocurrencies as a Single Pool of Wealth: Thoughts on the Purchasing Power of Decentralized Electronic Money
Author: Gennady Stolyarov II The recent meteoric rise in the dollar price of Bitcoin – from around $12 at the beginning of 2013 to several peaks above $1000 at the end – has brought widespread attention to the prospects for and future of cryptocurrencies. I have no material stake in Bitcoin (although I do accept donations), and this article will not attempt to predict whether the current price of Bitcoin signifies mostly lasting value or a bubble akin to the Dutch tulip mania of the 1630s. Instead of speculation about any particular price level, I hope here to establish a principle pertaining to the purchasing power of cryptocurrencies in general,…

Modernizing the Education System
Author: Pratoriate Monk There has been much reported on the problems with our education system: that students in the United States are lagging behind many of their peers in other countries in mathematics, science and reading. The typical response is to look at class sizes or at student performance on a per teacher basis to try and find solutions to these issues. There has been talk of “getting rid of ‘bad’ teachers and rewarding ‘good’ teachers.” There have been efforts to alter the curriculum to “better prepare the students for the test.” None of these efforts have enjoyed much measurable success in improving the scores of America’s students. Other countries’…

Why Has America Failed In The Role Of Leading Freedom Across The World?
Why has America failed in the role of leading freedom across the world? Why has America lost the ability to lead nations? Why has America stopped being the beacon of hope and freedom? The leadership in America has no clue as to why it has failed in the three questions above. The leadership in America is truly shocked that the population of the world simply does not believe them and this is the first time in recent history that American leadership has been questioned and mocked. The main reason why American leadership has failed, is solely due to the efforts of the citizens of the United States. In the…

American Foreign Policy For Dummies
We have gotten to the point in our lives in 2014 that we need to have a Dummies book for American foreign policy. Let’s start with America looking to aid Al Qaeda in Syria. I guess we were supposed to forget how Al Qaeda was responsible for 9/11 and please do not talk to me about false flag operations. For the sake of discussion let’s stick to the concept Al Qaeda was responsible for 9/11. So, let’s think about this, the enemy of the Saudis is our enemy, so we will send our enemy to help the Saudis defeat their enemy. Did anyone just get that… So let’s watch some…

Feedback Loops and Individual Self-Determination
Author: Gennady Stolyarov II I have always been fond of the concept of feedback loops, and it is indeed the case that much of humankind’s progress, and the progress of a given individual, can be thought of as a positive feedback loop. In the technology/reason interaction, human reason leads to the creation of technology, which empowers human reason and raises rational thinking to new heights, which enables still further technology, and so on. This, I think, is a good way of understanding why technological progress is not just linear, but exponential; the rate of progress builds on itself using a positive feedback loop. Negative feedback loops also exist, of course.…

Being Left Behind – The American Experience
A continuation of an article originally published on our sister site RedWolf’s Hall. On July 18th 2013, a capital city in The United States has gone under. The capital city of Detroit seeks to file for bankruptcy. Now, in most other countries this would be a crisis, that the countries leader would seek to address. You would think that a financial plan by The United States would be hatched to save the city? Sadly, you are wrong, below is a 17 minute video of President Nero from July 19th 2013: What you get from President Nero is a nothing story on an event that does not matter in American history. What…

Why I Wrote a Children’s Book on Indefinite Life Extension
Author: Gennady Stolyarov II My greatest fear about the future is not of technology running out of control or posing existential risks to humankind. Rather, my greatest fear is that, in the year 2045, I will be 58 years old and already marked by notable signs of senescence, sitting at the kitchen table, drinking my morning coffee, and wondering, “What happened to that Singularity we were promised by now? Why did it not come to pass? Why does the world of 2045 look pretty much like the world of 2013, with only a few cosmetic differences?” My greatest fear is that, as I stare into that mug of coffee, I…

Four Horsemen Documentary – Renegade Economist
The following video documentary is provided from Renegade Economist. It is 1.5 hours long and it is a must watch and learn. This is a video that should be taught in all schools world wide. Watch and Learn People. I will have my own commentary below. The only issue that I have with the video is the terrorist section. They list a small section of about 1 to 2 minutes concerning military operations and how it leads to more terrorists. That principle is false and it will always be false. The problem of Islamists and similar groups like the Tea Party in America, is mixing extreme religious views with a fear of…

There is Life Outside the Holodeck
Author : Armand Vespertine It has been said many times by many different people that the Holodeck will be Humanity’s last invention. The argument goes that if we could create a simulated reality indistinguishable from the real world, the average person (if not everyone) would elect to live in their own personalized fantasy world. I personally consider this line of thinking technophobic fear-mongering, based on a shallow and biased analysis of both the technology in question as well as Humanity. The kind of people who make this argument are usually the same kind of people who believe that Star Trek’s replicator would also be the end of everything since it would…
