Refuting Ayn Rand’s “Immortal Robot” Argument – G. Stolyarov II
Here I refute an argument that has been leveled against proponents of indefinite human longevity from a surprising direction – those sympathetic to the Objectivist philosophy of Ayn Rand. Some advocates of Ayn Rand’s philosophy believe that indefinite life would turn human beings into “immortal, indestructible robots” that, according to Ayn Rand, would have no genuine values. Both of these claims are false. Indefinite life would not turn humans into indestructible robots, nor would an indestructible robot with human abilities lack values or motivation for doing great things. In Ayn Rand’s own words, “Achieving life is not the equivalent of avoiding death.” (John Galt’s speech in For the New Intellectual, p. 135)…

The Philosophy of Bioshock – Ayn Rand Madness Gamer Edition
This is an awesome video from Wisecrack. The video covers the philosophy behind the game Bioshock. I never played the game myself but from the video, it pays homage to Ayn Rand belief system. I still cannot understand the love affair with Ayn Rand but it worked well for this game series. Individual Empowerment through Emerging Technologies: Virtual Tools for a Better Physical World
Author: Gennady Stolyarov II No realm of human activity in the past century has empowered and liberated the individual as efficaciously as technological advancement. Our personal, political, and economic freedoms – though limited in many respects – today allow us to achieve quality-of-life improvements and other objectives that were inconceivable even a few decades ago. Much libertarian, classical liberal, and Objectivist theory supports this insight, but in our era of increasing salience of advanced technology, this support needs to be made far more explicit and applied toward vocal advocacy of emerging, life-transforming breakthroughs that further raise the capacities of the individual. Gamification, augmented reality, and virtual worlds can play a significant…

Ayn Rand Madness – Politicking: Ron Paul – Edition
This is a great video from Politicking, an RT America show featuring Larry King. I love the interviewing skills of Larry King and it was a fantastic move by RT to hire him. The topic was current events and how Ron Paul viewed those events. It is actually a scary video, because I truly believe that Ron Paul believes the shit that is coming out of his mouth. Personally, the funniest and saddest part of the video is Ron Paul stating that the FDA gets in the way of new drugs getting onto the market, which would include Ebola drugs. You need regulations to protect the public and the FDA is…

Ayn Rand – Free Market Insanity
Lately, I have come across a few posts and articles regarding Ayn Rand. I have to be honest with you, I had no real clue on who she was and what she stood for. So I did a little research and came across this great interview that Phil Donahue did in 1979. The video is listed below: The Phil Donahue interview was awesome. What I love about the interview was the interaction between Phil Donahue, the audience and Ayn Rand, which tells you volumes about both individuals and the audience. What needs to be addressed is Ayn Rand’s madness regarding the free market economy and the role that government plays.…
