The Case For The Movie Automata

Automata_posterNow that I have a little more time on my hands, I had the opportunity to finally watch the movie Automata. In my mind this was a fantastic Dystopian thriller, with a scaring hint of a probable future.

The mentality that the Sun can send solar flares to spread radiation across the earth is a realistic danger that exists for all of us.  The dreaded Kill Shot is a realistic fear that has been dodged numerous times. This is why the Wave Chronicle has supported Suspicious Observers who has done daily space weather forecasts for years.

The interaction between the robotic force created to stem the tide of the radioactive wasteland and the humans who built them is fantastic. At first the Pilgrims (Robots) was the great hope for mankind. With two all encompassing protocols, not to harm any form of life, and they may not modify any robot.

When the Pilgrims failed, a deep seeded distrust ensued. The Pilgrims in the minds of the humans, become a waste product of a failed human existence.

This interplay between the growing life (or the intelligence) of the Pilgrims and the dying life of humans is a fantastic play of philosophy. The battle for life and the battle of death between two different sentient beings.  The movie accurately depicts the dying glimmering light of humans and the glimmering light of life for the Pilgrims.

If you have not seen this movie, you need to give it a watch, because we need to have further discussions regarding solar activity, improving the quality of life and the survival of humankind and what real rules should we have for sentient robotic life.

I have a wide range of views and opinions. I have worked in a number of industries some of them are: Banking, Dairy, Health Insurance, Education and Government. I am the owner and editor in charge of a number of websites and message boards. The crown jewel of the websites is WaveChronicle.com which covers a wide variety of content. The Wave Chronicle is a site built to put forth thought provoking information, which can range from activism, politics, technology, philosophy, climate change, education, futurist / transhumanist theory and some fun articles that tend to be on the conspiracy theory side. Finally, I am also an accomplished no limit holdem poker player who sadly does not see enough time at a poker table.
