A scientific paper published this year in Nature Astronomy deepens the many mysteries that the planet Venus presents. The authors were surprised to find chaotic cloud movements on the night-side of Venus’s super-rotating upper atmosphere. The greatest surprise was the discovery of distinct filamentary structures in clouds which appear to touch down on Venus’s mountains.
