Katherine Dooley, a University of Mississippi assistant professor of physics and astronomy, worked in collaboration with researchers across the globe to detect gravitational waves in a monumental effort to prove Einstein’s last theory, today she will discuss LIGO and how scientific discoveries are truly a team effort.  Katherine is from Poughkeepsie, NY where she attended Vassar College, graduating with a B.A. in Physics. She earned her doctorate in Physics from the U. of Florida in 2011 for her contributions to improving the Initial LIGO gravitational-wave detectors.
