James Hughes is a bioethicist and sociologist, he is the Executive Director of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies. The mission of the IEET claims that it \u201cpromotes ideas about how technological progress can increase freedom, happiness, and human flourishing in democratic societies. They \u201cbelieve that \u201ctechnological progress can be a catalyst for positive human development so long as we ensure that technologies are safe and equitably distributed. This is what James calls a \u201ctechnoprogressive\u201d orientation.<\/p>\n

We dive into the balance between technological process and democracy, what technologies are a human right, whether limits should be placed on the freedom of people to control their own bodies, and what the theoretical deep future looks like for our strange, technological species.<\/p>\n
